After Solomon completed the temple and the royal palace, the LORD appeared to him a second time, as he had at Gibeon. God told Solomon He had heard his prayer and consecrated the temple. But God also warned him solemnly: he must walk in the LORD's ways as his father David had done. If Israel ever turned to worship other gods, God would cut them off from the land He had given them. Solomon went on to expand the kingdom and to build many cities.
