The land of Canaan faced famine again, and Isaac looked at the dry fields, wondering what to do. God told Isaac to stay in the land and promised to be with him and bless him. Isaac traveled with his family and animals to Gerar and planted crops there. God sent rain, the fields grew, the harvest was abundant, and God also blessed Isaac with many animals. Some people in Gerar envied Isaac and filled his wells with dirt, and Abimelech asked him to move away. Isaac chose a peaceful response. He moved to a new valley, kept digging wells, and found fresh water. Later Abimelech saw that God was with Isaac and came to make a peace agreement with him. Isaac thanked God for His presence and care, knowing that God had kept His promise and given him room to live in peace.
