Rahab and the Spies

Joshua secretly sent two spies to scout Jericho. The spies came to Rahab's house, and the king of Jericho sent soldiers to capture them. Rahab hid the spies under the flax stalks on the roof and sent the soldiers to search along the road leading through the city gate. After the soldiers had gone, Rahab offered to help the spies escape through her window. The spies promised to protect her and her family when the Israelites returned to take the city, and told her to tie a red cord in the window as a sign. Rahab tied the cord in place, and the spies climbed down the wall, then hid in the hills for three days. Later, they returned safely to Joshua and reported that God had given the land to the Israelites.
