After Joseph was brought to Egypt, he came into the house of Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh’s guard. Yahweh was with Joseph and made the work in his hands go well, so Potiphar trusted Joseph and put him in charge of his household. Later, Potiphar’s wife kept asking Joseph to do something wrong, but Joseph firmly refused. He said that his master trusted him and that he could not do such a great evil and sin against God. Joseph chose to leave the wrong situation at once. Because the woman was angry that Joseph had refused, she told a lie to accuse him. Potiphar believed her words and sent Joseph to prison. Yet Yahweh was still with Joseph and showed him kindness, so Joseph also gained the prison keeper’s trust.
