The Lord told Moses that one more plague would come upon Egypt; after that, Pharaoh would drive all the Israelites out. God gave the Israelites favor in the eyes of the Egyptians, and Moses was highly regarded in Egypt. Moses delivered a solemn warning to Pharaoh: about midnight, the Lord would go through Egypt, the firstborn in Egypt would face judgment, and a great cry would be heard throughout the land; but the Israelites would be clearly protected and set apart. Moses also said Pharaoh’s officials would bow down and ask the people to leave. Then Moses left Pharaoh, and Pharaoh still would not listen.
