The Risen Lord and the Great Commission

The eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee, just as Jesus had told them. The risen Jesus appeared to them, and they worshiped Him, though some doubted. Jesus said gently, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” With this Great Commission, the disciples came down from the mountain. At Pentecost the Holy Spirit came, Peter preached boldly, and three thousand believed. The church grew quickly from Jerusalem, and the disciples went out to every land, sharing Jesus everywhere. This good news of the resurrection has reached us today, and the same Jesus, ever present with us, sends us to tell His love to everyone around us.
