Revival in Ephesus

Paul came to Ephesus and found twelve disciples who had received only John's baptism. After he explained John's message, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Paul laid his hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them; they spoke in other languages and prophesied. Paul served in Ephesus for three years, and God worked many miracles through him. Handkerchiefs and aprons from Paul were taken to the sick, who recovered, and evil spirits left them. Some Jewish exorcists tried to drive out evil spirits using Jesus' name, but the spirits overpowered them. The name of the Lord Jesus was honored throughout Ephesus. Many believers came forward to confess their deeds; separately, people who practiced magic brought their books and burned them. Later, Demetrius the silversmith stirred up a riot because he feared his trade and the honor of Artemis would suffer. The crowd rushed into the theater, shouting, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” The town clerk calmed the people, urged them not to act rashly, and dismissed the assembly.
