Isaac was old and could no longer see. He wanted to bless his older son Esau, so he told Esau to hunt and prepare his favorite meal. Rebekah heard this and wanted Jacob to receive the blessing first, so she arranged for Jacob to pretend to be Esau. Jacob wore Esauโs clothes and covered his hands and neck with goat skins so he would feel like Esau. Isaac was unsure, but he still gave the blessing to Jacob. When Esau returned and learned that the blessing had already been given, he was deeply hurt and very angry. Rebekah knew Jacob was no longer safe at home, so she sent him away to her brother Laban. This story shows that deception may seem to get what we want for a moment, but it brings pain, separation, and consequences we must face.
