Jesus looked at the city of Jerusalem and was filled with sorrow. He said, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate.” The disciples pointed out the temple buildings to Jesus, but He prophesied that this temple would be torn down, with not one stone left upon another. Later, on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “When will these things happen? What signs will tell us?” Jesus kindly taught them to keep watch and not be deceived, for heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will never pass away.
