At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught a series of important teachings: do not judge others lightly; first look at whether there is a large beam in your own eye; ask the Father in heaven and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened; enter through the narrow gate, because the way that leads to life is narrow. Finally Jesus told a story: there was a wise man who built his house on a solid rock, and when the great wind and rain came, the house stood firm; another foolish man built his house on loose sand, and when the storm came, the house collapsed. Those who hear Jesus' words and obey them are like the wise man. The crowds were amazed at Jesus' teaching because it was with authority.
