The young prophets told Elisha their dwelling was too cramped, and asked if they might cut wood at the Jordan to build a bigger place. Elisha agreed and went with them. While they were chopping, one young prophet swung his axe, and the heavy iron head flew off the handle and splashed into the river. He cried out in alarm, for the axe had been borrowed. Elisha gently asked where it had fallen, cut a little stick, and threw it into the water — and the wondrous thing happened: the iron axe head floated up from the bottom! The young man reached out, lifted it, and went back to work with joy. This small miracle shows us that God watches over every little thing in our lives and gladly helps every child who trusts in Him.
