As the floodwaters gradually went down, Noah looked out from the little window of the ark. There was still water everywhere, so he first released a raven and then a dove to search for dry land. The dove came back the first time because it could find no place to rest. Later it returned with a fresh green olive leaf, and Noah knew the waters were going down and plants were growing again. At last the dove did not return, and the ground became dry. Noah opened the ark door, and the animals walked out two by two onto the soft grass. On a green hillside Noah built a stone altar and thanked God with a grateful heart for keeping everyone safe. Then a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky, and the world welcomed a fresh, life-filled new beginning.
After the floodwaters went down, Noah saw the green leaf and dry ground and knew that God had kept them safe for a new beginning. After Noah came out of the ark, he built an altar on a green hillside and thanked God with a grateful heart for keeping everyone safe. The rainbow in the sky reminds us of God’s faithful promise. When we experience a new beginning, we can also thank God first like Noah and take the next step with hope.
