The tribe of Judah was the first tribe to receive an inheritance in the land of Canaan. Their territory stretched from the southern wilderness to the north, from the Salt Sea (the Dead Sea) to the Great Sea (the Mediterranean Sea), a vast and expansive domain. Caleb’s nephew Othniel bravely captured the city of Debir, and Caleb gave his daughter Achsah to him as a wife. Achsah wisely asked her father Caleb for the upper and lower springs as an extra blessing, and Caleb readily agreed. The tribe of Judah received many towns and villages, from the southern wilderness to the coastal plain, everywhere the abundant inheritance bestowed by God, testifying to God’s generous blessing upon this tribe.

Moral

The tribe of Judah received a large and fertile inheritance, and Achsah even more boldly asked her father for an extra blessing of springs. This shows us that God is a generous giver, whose provision far exceeds what we think. At the same time, Achsah's story teaches us to be bold in asking the Heavenly Father, because He gladly wants to bless us. In daily life we should not only be grateful for the blessings we already have, but also dare to ask God, believing that He will respond according to His abundant grace.
