The Israelites came to the Jordan River while it was overflowing during harvest. Joshua told the people to consecrate themselves because Yahweh would do wonders among them. The priests carried the Ark of the Covenant ahead of the people, and when their feet touched the water, the upstream water stopped far away while the water downstream flowed away. The priests stood on dry ground in the middle of the river until all Israel crossed on dry ground. Through this, God showed the people that He was with Joshua, just as He had been with Moses.
When the priests' feet stepped into the rushing Jordan River, the water miraculously stopped flowing. God asked His people to take the first step of faith, and then He showed His great power. This teaches us that faith is not waiting until we see results before we believe—it's about obeying and taking action even before we see the outcome. When we face obstacles like the Jordan River in our lives, we can trust that God has the power to make a way for us. Let's bravely take the first step of faith.
