Moses stayed on the mountain for a long time. The people grew impatient and asked Aaron to make something they could see. Aaron collected everyone's gold earrings, melted the gold, and shaped it into a golden calf. The people were delighted when they saw the golden calf and danced around it. God told Moses what was happening below, and Moses hurried down the mountain. When he saw the golden calf and the dancing people, he was deeply grieved and threw down the two stone tablets, breaking them. Moses removed the golden calf and ground it into powder. The people regretted their mistake, and Moses prayed earnestly for them. God heard his prayer. Later, Moses asked God to let him see His glory.
