As the famine grew worse, the family’s food was almost gone. Judah promised his father Jacob that he would care for Benjamin and bring him home safely. Though Jacob was worried, he entrusted his family to God, agreed to let Benjamin go to Egypt with his brothers, and prepared gifts of honey, nuts, and spices. When the brothers arrived in Egypt, Joseph saw Benjamin and was deeply moved, quietly shedding tears of joy. Joseph prepared a wonderful feast for them and gave Benjamin an extra special portion. The next day, Joseph told his servants to fill the brothers’ sacks with grain and secretly put his own silver cup into Benjamin’s sack. The brothers happily set out for home, not knowing the cup was hidden there. Joseph watched them from his window, and the story ended with a question: what would happen next?
