King Ahasuerus lifted Haman to a high position and commanded people to bow before him. Mordecai at the palace gate would not bow, and Haman became furious. He began planning to harm all the Jewish people. With smooth words, Haman deceived the king, received the king's ring, wrote a decree to destroy the Jews, and sent it through the provinces. The people in Susa were confused and afraid, and Mordecai and God's people fell into great danger. This story reminds us that pride can lead to cruel choices, but God still watches over His people and calls us to fear Him and trust Him in times of crisis.

Pride can make us think too highly of ourselves, and anger can grow into plans that hurt others and bring serious consequences. God sees pride and injustice, and He also watches over His people when they are in danger. We can learn humility and fear God, not letting pride or anger rule our hearts. When we face unfairness or fear, we can trust that God is still in control and ask Him for help.
