David was anointed

King Saul disobeyed God, so God decided to choose a new king. The prophet Samuel traveled to Bethlehem to find the person God had chosen among Jesse's sons. Seven tall and handsome brothers walked by, but God did not choose any of them. Finally, the youngest son David was called in from the pastures. God said to Samuel, 'This is the one.' Samuel anointed David with oil, and from that day on, the Spirit of God was with David.
