Abram and his nephew Lot lived with many sheep, goats, cattle, and tents. God had given them many animals, but the flocks kept growing, and there was not enough grass and water. Abramโs shepherds and Lotโs shepherds began to argue. Abram felt sad when he heard the quarrels. He gently said to Lot, โWe are family; let us not fight with each other. You choose where you would like to go first.โ Lot saw the green valley near the Jordan River and chose to go there. Abram did not grab for himself, but stayed in Canaan and peacefully trusted God. After Lot left, God told Abram to look north, south, east, and west, and promised to give the land he saw to Abram and his descendants. Abram pitched his tents near the great oaks and thanked God for His guidance.
