Joseph met Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker in prison. One night, each of them had a troubling dream. Joseph noticed their sad faces and kindly asked what was wrong. He said that interpreting dreams belongs to God and invited them to tell him their dreams. The cupbearer dreamed of a vine with three branches full of grapes, and he squeezed the juice into Pharaoh’s cup; Joseph explained that Pharaoh would restore him in three days. The baker dreamed of three baskets of food on his head, and birds ate the food; Joseph gently and honestly said that in three days he would be taken away and would not return to his old work. Joseph asked the cupbearer to remember him when he returned to his position and help him leave prison. Three days later, both dreams came true just as Joseph had said, but after the cupbearer returned to the palace, he forgot Joseph.
